While the just manufactured cowl is removed and sent to the paint shop for paint and detailing (Fig. 13), the new airframe/engine is towed into the sun for the first engine start (Fig. 14). All systems and circuits are checked during the ground run (Fig. 14). Only after all JetPROP and FAA ground tests are completed satisfactorily will this JetPROP DLX be signed off for flight testing. It's almost anti-climatic at this point. Performance characteristics, such as the 1,200 ft ground roll, the 3,000 fpm initial climb, and the 260 kts cruise speed are verified and documented (Fig. 15).
